Halloween Party

The Halloween Party was funny and scandalous.
It was a party full of different disguises. Most of them were scarely awesome.
The music was just great to dance and to listen to. :)
So…Me and my group were the first to start dancing on the dancefloor.
It was official: The party had just started. :)
Then more and more people joined us until the party get insanely full.
It was so so so crowded that we hardly could make a move to dance.
When “I Gotta Feeling…” from the Black Eyed Peas was played, everybody went crazy!
We jumped, we screamed, we danced…We were just feeling it!
Later, after all this unstoppable fun, came the scandal.
Lots of flirt and making out boldly were the soul of this party! :p

Eh, eh, eh…

What a memorable Party, hein?

Berlin!! :D

As usually before trips the anxiety takes place in me, and I wake up early. The trip to Berlin wasn't different. So in the bus I slept the entire time like almost everybody.
When we got there we went to Branderburger Tor, which everybody pictures it when thinks of Berlin. The city was full of people due to the celebration of the 20 years for the fall of the Berlin Wall. Giant domino pieces were where the Berlin Wall stood. These gave the city so much colour and life because they were full of different grafittis in resemblance to how it is what's left of the Berlin Wall.
We went to a visit to the Reichstag- The german Parliament. And we also visit its dome with a magnificent view over the city of Berlin.
Then we passed again through Branderburger Tor and went to the Jüdische Mahnmal, which is a monument to remember the jews that died in the Holocaust.
After that we went to Potsdamer Platz, and on the way, we found a band acting on the middle of the street with a fantastic sound and a great vibe!
Then it was time to eat and the obvious choice was Mcdonald's! :D
It started to get dark, time ran fast when we're having fun...
So we went to Berliner Dom, that is a well-known church and to see the Fernsehturm (Tv tower), that is second tallest structure of the European Union.
And we finish our trip in the Berlin Wall and of course we made lots and lots of pictures!
It was time to go with the promise of returning to Berlin on December to see the Christmas decorations.
The comeback trip was very funny, with disney songs sung in various languages (portuguese, polish, italian, greek, english and german), political discussions and some gossip!

Ich (L) Berlin! :)

Ps- The episode with the lady that put herself in front of the camera while we were taking a picture is memorable! xD

Third Week

Clothes, clothes and more clothes!

Uff!!!

That’s how this week started!

Monday was a very busy day.

Because…

I and Catarina spent all the morning washing our clothes in the laundry service.
After that we put them drying.
In the afternoon, we went to the University in order to make a sort of a test to know in which level of the Deutsch als Fremdsprache Kurs (Intensive German Course for Foreigners) we would be in.
At night, we went to a long and boring lecture of our residence, Europa Haus, about the election of the new leaders of all its activities in this year.
At its end, we only ate two slices of Pizza!(That was really annoying! :( )
Later, we went to a Birthday Party that we didn’t know whose birthday was. xD
In the next day…
I could sleep until the hour I wanted. Yeah! :D
So…I woke up at midday! (I know I am little but lazy sometimes. But who isn’t it?)
In the afternoon, I and Catarina went to the center of the city to make some shopping.
The shopping Catarina made were great! I love your new clothes and accessories, Catarina! They are fantastic!;)Then we returned to Starbucks and this time, we took an appropriate drink for this freezing weather. I had a macciato caramel coffee and Catarina had a Moka coffee. Hmmm…they were sooooo delicious! :)
At night, our clothes dried. (after a day and a half, I know. But what can we do?)
Antoher different day begins and I slept until later again and in the afternoon, I and Catarina went back to the University in order to take care of the Learning Agreement but unfortunately nothing was done . :( (what felt really frustrating for us!)
The night of this day was an unforgettable night, in which all the limits disappeared and reigned the disgrace. So as you might guess, I will not say how sadly this night ended.
The hang over day started and I felt really tired but even tough, I was able to decide which subjects I would choose to put in my new Learning Agreement and I had my first dinner with my flatmates. It was cool because I got to know them a little bit more but it wasn’t so good as I thought it would be. :(
After this dinner has ended, I went to my beloved Georgia and Alper’s apartment to play cards. It was really cool and I had a lot of fun. I just loved it. :D It was far way better than the dinner.
A new day starts and I stayed all the day in my apartment just chilling out.
At night, I and Catarina met with Olivia and it was sooo cool. We talked and we even made a little karaoke. It was great! :D
Happy Birthday Olivia!
It’s your Birthday! It’s your Birthday!

This was Olivia’s Birthday!
We went to the center of the city with her and we met there with Alper and we so much fun, buying her present and looking for the mint leaves to make the great mojitos.
The Olivia’s Birthday Party was wonderful. I loooooved it! :D
Olivia…you looked sooo beautiful and gorgeous! :)
You were definitely the Queen of the Night!;)

The serial licker went on with his attack, of course! :P , which gave to this party a great part of its brightness. :)
After the party, we decided to go to Reeperbahn and on our way to there...we jumped, we screamed…we have just lost it!
It was the celebration of Olivia’s Birthday! It was an unique moment. :)
This good, good night ended up in the famous Reeperbahn.
In the last day of this week, I stayed at home watching movies on youtube and reading.
Then, I visited my So Beloved Best Friend Forever Catarina and we had a little but great chat and then I went to sleep.

What a week! :)

What’s next?

New Life

Since the first time I stepped on the floor of Hamburg, I suddenly felt that my Life would unexpectedly change.
In a blink of an eye, I said Goodbye to my old and monotonous Life and I said Hello to a new and spontaneous Life, which I like a lot more.

A Life I truly love.

In my new Life, I have something I always wanted to achieve: Independence.

In this Life, I have created my Own World, exactly how I idealized it but I must know how to take control of it, so it doesn't destroy it self.

This is a Life where I have my apartment with my bedroom, my kitchen and my living room, which I can personalize the way I want but where I have to know what to do so I can keep them in a good state.
This Life is teaching me how to survive and to grow up in every senses: personal, responsible and sociable.

And...I just love it!

Because...

It's the greatest challenge I have ever had and the best experience ever!

I'm loving this New Life!!!

And I used to think I had grown up when I got job this year...lol

Now it's the time I can really say: I am growing up!

Laundry day

After two weeks in Hamburg, I had today my first experience with the washing machine, which was not very good.
Firstly, we just have 3 washing machines, and other three drying machines for more than a hundred people. Of course it's not enough for everybody.
Secondly, the machine to put the coins doesn't give change, and doesn't accept coins of 5cent or bills. So, I had to put more money that I needed because I didn't have change.
Thirdly, I hate the drying machine, it started whistling saying it had a technical error. So I had to call a man, who was in the secretary, and had to pay again!

And now I can't sleep, because my sheets haven't dried yet!

Happy Birthday- I don't know you!

It's becoming a habit for me, as it is the second time this week, to go to birthday parties that I don't know whose the birthday is.
But here it doesn't matter if you know the person or not, as it is just one more reason to party (because we don't have enough)!
However for me is very weird because I'd never do this in my country, it's considered to be disrespectful.

But Hamburg has no rules, so Happy Birthday stranger!

So Far Away...

The buildings, the people, the weather, the habits, the mentality...

Here in Hamburg...everything is definitely different.

I deeply feel a big distance from my home country, Portugal.
It's not a physical distance, envolving miles but a psychological distance because here people are more open minded and they are not so judgamental neither are they constantly having prejudice of somebody.

Here, I feel the total freedom of my soul because I feel I can be myself, without caring about the others' opinion because they won't judge me, like in Portugal.

Everbody here is focused on their lives and on what they want to do with it plus they are very respectful to the others, besides their typical coldness and reserve.
They have a total different tradition from mine but they are more civilized and proud about what they do for living and that is just great. :)

I feel so far away from what I used to be and very surprised about what I am start to be now. :)

But besides this feels a little weird, it is really good to me because...

I start to feel and to have the security and the comfort I always looked for but I never had before.

Katharinenstrasse und Katharinenkirche

On friday while looking for the harbour, I found my church : Katharinenkirche - Katharina's church. Unfortunately, it was under construction, so we couldn't see it's beauty. However, we entered and saw pictures of how it was in the past. And we heard something coming from the inside of the church, we looked at each other and decided to see what was that noise. It was a man playing an organ, on two keyboards with his hands, and on another one in the floor with his feet. It had an amazing sound, so we stayed there just listening to him..
We eventually found the harbour and in the way we found my street...

Well, my church is under construction and so am I. I'm getting to know myself here in a way I never thought. In Hamburg I have the opportunity to just be, just be myself! And I'm grabbing it. There's something inside me that wants to come out just like the sound of the organ inside the church... Step aside, I'm in my way to self-knowlegde.

Hamburg

Everyone keeps on asking me how it's Hamburg and the first word that comes to my mind is HUGE! Hamburg is huge, in fact is the biggest european city which is not a capital.

Huge is the adjective which best characterizes this city.

For you to have an idea, here there are:

5 KFC's;
24 Starbucks;
50 H&M's;
61 Mcdonald's;
91 Subways;
and
623 Hamburger Sparkasse (the bank of Hamburg);

So you can see this is really huge. And as I do have a life, I won't count the Döner Restaurants, which exist in every corner of Hamburg.

Second Week

Diogo, who are you licking?

This is the sentence with which this week starts.

This is actually a sentence wrote by my best friend Catarina, who took care of revealing to everyone in facebook my little secret in a photo of the Bar Paul Sudeck’s in the day of the barbecue.
In this photo, it seems I am licking a Spanish boy, so from there on I got “famous”, which means, everyone of the group started to mock me about that and now I am known as the Serial Licker.

In this week, I had the pleasure of going to a portuguese restaurant in Hamburg.
The food was really tasty and good. It was fantastic to be back in the Portuguese environment for a little while. I loved it.
And then, I met again with my great friend, Piga!
The one who got me drunk last Wednesday, making me also dance, scream, trying to lick everyone around me and put my tongue out and unfortunately…Well I think I can skip on this part. It’s too gross to tell.
After this good, good drinking night, I decided to break my relationship with Piga because I realized she’s not my friend but my killer, who brings up perhaps the best and the really worst of me!
In the next night, we went to Berliner Tor, to a Party in some unknown residence, which was a little bit lame and in the weekend, I stayed at home resting the whole day and Saturday at night I and the group came back to Reeperbahn and we went to a Rock Bar, which was really cool and where I ended up having lot of fun, besides I thought I wouldn’t.

In this Sunday, I stayed at home the whole day, resting and getting ready for another unpredictable week!

Are you ready?

Diogo, who are you licking?

First Week

I gotta feeling…
That tonight’s gonna be a good night.
That tonight’s gonna be a good, good night!

That’s how our first week here in Hamburg started.

In this week, we met lot of other Erasmus students, people from all over the Europe, people of lots of different cultures and traditions, besides a group of very special people that we met in the residence tour and also in our first day at the University.
In the first day, we went to the welcome reception of the university and then we went to do shopping in order to fill up our apartments with everything from food to hygienic products that we needed.
In the next day we started to go out. We went out lot of times. Basically it was party every night. Amazing! 
There was a night of a Barbecue in the residence which was super cool.
We ate german sausages and kartoffelnsalat for dinner and then we went to the Paul Sudeck ‘s Bar, where we had lot of fun and we totally let ourselves loose.

There was another memorial night: The Night of Reeperbahn!
We went to the most shocking and devastating part of Hamburg.
Here everybody was drunk and violent. There was sex shops, strip bars and desperate prostitutes everywhere.
It was really scary and obscure. The true Subworld of Hamburg.
After that night, came the weekend and here, we decided to rest and to visit another little bit of the center of the city and try a frapuccino of Starbucks, with this cold and freezing time, which was a bit unwise and crazy from us.

But what would we be without a little bit of insanity in our lives?

It would be really boring. Wouldn’t it?

First Weekend

It’s almost 6 in the morning. Two Portuguese Erasmus students had just arrived to the Hamburg Airport. They are Catarina and Diogo. They are us. :)
At this time, we were already stepping on the floor of Hamburg. Yeah!!!
We were literally lost and disoriented and we had to get to our residence, Europa-Haus, so we went to ask for informations about the means of transportation to the residence. And the Hamburg airport’s officers told us it was better for us to take a taxi because it would be easier and safer to get to the residence. So we decided to take that decision. While we were in the Airport, we started to notice the German people.
They were all so different from us. In everything:
• The physiognomy: their eyes were mostly blue and their hair was blond.
• The personality: they were cold, reserved and quiet.

For instance, in the airport, we noticed that there was a group of german people having a coffee, and they spoke quiet and not loud.
We noticed that there were three children very excited while they were reading a book, something really weird to us.
Since here, we started realizing we had just arrived to a whole new and unknown world, where we could be ourselves and enjoy all the freedom this place has to give to us. :)

Because here nobody knows us.

Then we took the taxi and when we arrived to the residence, it was really funny because we had a problem with the speaking: we didn’t know how to ask for help with the luggage in german to the driver.
Then we got to the Europa-Haus, we waited almost an hour and we started to see some residents leaving the residence but they were all very cold and at 8 o’clock we met our tutor. She showed us our rooms and explained us the whole rules of Europa-Haus and we signed the contract.
When she left us all by ourselves, we decided to start unpacking the luggage and to fill our rooms up. Then we decided to give a little walk in the city.
We went to some shops in order to buy something to feed ourselves and it was really hilarious the fact of us trying to speak german and ending up speaking in English because the german people realized instantaneously that we were foreigners.
We had lunch in McDonald’s and then we went back to the residence, we talked a little bit about the Erasmus experience, which was being good but it seemed not be so good as we wished and then we decided to rest the whole day, since we were in the state of jet lag.
The next day we woke up at 10 o’clock and were much more excited about discovering this marvelous city.
Totally unworried and adventurers, without using a map, we decided to make our trip to the center of the city all by ourselves, and as we made our way to the center without even knowing where the center was, we were always marveled about what surrounded us: big and fantastic buildings, wonderful landscapes with ducks and swans, huge green parks and people riding bicycles or jogging all the time.
When we arrived to the center, we were amazed with the outstanding monuments of it and the river with lots of beautiful swans. There were lots of artists playing instruments live and there were an infinite quantity of shops. That was excellent! That’s when we started to love this city from the deep of our hearts and we wanted to start to know and discover it to the full.
After we have taken a walk in a little bit of the center of this city, because we found out that we only have been in a little part of it, even though we were amazed, we decided to go back to the residence but there was a huge problem: we got lost. xD
Without any sense of orientation, we decided to go back to the residence by foot and we gave an enormous walk in a huge park and then after trying to remember a point of reference and following all the streets that came in our way, we found our way back to the residence. Yeah!!!

After getting back to the residence, we went to a tour of it and we met some other Erasmus students who are now really special people to us.
What a great adventure we had in this first weekend!:)

But this was just the beginning…

The best is yet to come
. :p
